Ben Guriel
Senior Business Development Manager, Transit

Ben enjoys developing strong relationships with all of his clients where he connects and creates a bond you can rely on. Communication is at the core of his being and this skill will allow you and your agency to establish new heights. “I believe trust and open communication are the keys to having as strong long term relationship, be in it business, friendship or with family.”

Passionate about coaching, basketball, and golf, Ben is always eager to discuss these topics or share a story about his daughter.

John Joynt
Senior Business Development Manager, Transit

John Joynt has more than 25 years of experience in precision electrical test and measurement at the national lab level.  Ten of those years included designing systems that involved solar power charging systems. While being a key contributor in the research and development department, he is also a successful corporate technical training expert and business development manager in more than 30 countries.  John says “listening to customers describe technology issues that are keeping them from moving forward and then developing innovative ‘issue solving’ systems that outperformed their expectations is the key to building long successful relationships with clients.”

John has joined forces with Urban Solar after honing his skills as International Sales Manager at Guildline Instruments, International Sales Manager at Applied Microsystems and Vice President of Sales then General Manager at Locator Systems International, which is a subsidiary of LoJack.

Mark Harold
Senior Business Development Manager, General Illumination

Mark Harold (P.Eng) has more than 15 years of experience working with solar power systems (off grid and grid connected). This experience has included business development, design, installations, commissioning and after sales support. This experience is complimented with many years working in the engineering consultancy field.

Mark’s work has taken him across North America, Europe and Asia.

Fabricio González
Business Development Manager, General Illumination

Fabricio González has more than 18 years of experience leading urban, transport and architecture projects for public and private sectors. For the past 12 years Fabricio has focused on the urban mobility field, the interaction between the land use and sustainable modes of transport and his passion for more efficient architecture dedicated to transportation.

He brings significant international expertise and experience to the Urban Solar team in both internal and external stakeholder advocacy and collaboration through his work with diverse players across Africa, Europe and Latin America. Fabricio works and lives in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Eben Lindsey
Business Development Manager, General Illumination

Eben has built strong client relationships working in the electrical equipment, telecommunications, and technology industries. His experience in business development has taken him as far abroad as Chile, Peru, Austria, Mexico, and China. He is fluent in Spanish and has a master’s degree in global business from the University of Victoria.

Trevor Harmon
Research and Development Manager

Trevor has more than 10 years of expertise with solar LED lighting product development and manufacturing. He has led engineering and design efforts for a wide variety of solar LED lighting products including pathway lighting, architectural consumer lighting, transportation (roadway and transit) lighting, and aviation-related solar LED lighting applications.

In addition to his solar powered LED lighting experience, Trevor has founded and grown technology and manufacturing companies in markets including sustainable power, food and beverage, and wastewater treatment and management. Trevor has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design Engineering from the University of Victoria.

John Kannon
Product/Operations Manager

John has 15 years of manufacturing experience in the IC and Fibre Optic fields, supporting both product and equipment. After stepping away for 9 years to purse other career options, he is now back in the technology field. John plays a key role in the day to day operations as well as technical support.

Reid Cannon 
Product/Operations Manager

Reid developed an interest working with photovoltaic solar solutions in the residential and commercial energy industry from an early age.  This passion led him to discover his attraction to providing packaged solutions for customers using solar technology, specifically in lighting. When he is not working on solar solutions, there is a good chance that you will find him cycling or out sailing the local waters.

Reid Cannon has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria.

Stephanie Peters
VP of Administration

Stephanie has been with Urban Solar since its inception, and was initially responsible for all administrative and financial aspects. Now, she specializes in administration and HR. She has many years of experience working in both public and private sectors, including 5 years in education, 12 years in social services, several years in manufacturing, and in government.

Wanda Card
Finance Manager

Wanda has more than 25 years of finance and office management experience in the advertising, safety, energy, and social services sectors. Her extensive knowledge in developing strong corporate structures and protocols is instrumental in Urban Solar’s continued success.

Garnet Luick
VP of Engineering and Operations

Garnet has more than 25 years of experience with solar power systems and high reliability telecommunications equipment including product research and development, manufacturing operations, quality and reliability standards and testing, sales and marketing, customer support, and system deployment/commisioning.

Garnet has extensive experience supporting customers and has a proven record of accountability in support of business development and sales teams.

Garnet is a founding member of Urban Solar.

Jeff Peters
President

Jeff founded Urban Solar in 2008 and brings more than 20 years of manufacturing and sales experience to the team. Urban Solar’s growth and success stems from his passion for reliable high performing products, corporate vision, and focus on customer service.

Jeff has worked exclusively in solar powered LED lighting since 2004, and in the solar industry since 2000. Prior to founding Urban Solar, he was directly responsible for overseeing Carmanah Technologies’ Transit Lighting Division.

During this time he managed thousands of deployments and was involved in all aspects of business development for transit illumination projects. His extensive knowledge and experience with commercial solar lighting includes leading product development and growing all aspects of the business from sales to marketing.
