Business Development Manager
With more than 18 years of experience in the North American solar energy and lighting industry, Rowan brings a strong technical and customer-focused skillset to Urban Solar. He has an in-depth, hands-on background in solar lighting and power systems, dating back to 1999. Rowan is a subject matter expert in solar and LED technology, with vast industry experience working in Canada and the United States. He has proven expertise in consultation, sales management, distribution chain management and product training for customers throughout North America.
Business Development Manager
Eben has built strong client relationships working in the electrical equipment, telecommunications, and technology industries. His experience in business development has taken him as far abroad as Chile, Peru, Austria, Mexico, and China. He is fluent in Spanish and has a master’s degree in global business from the University of Victoria.
Inside Sales Representative
Ryan brings over 10 years of sales and customer service experience to the Urban Solar team. That experience has covered everything from solar lighting and telecommunications, to maritime software. During his time working with solar lighting, Ryan has established long-term relationships, ensuring the proper implementation of projects and corresponding follow-up support for manufacturers’ representatives, distributors, specifiers such as architects and engineers, and municipal officials.
Research & Development Manager / Sales Director
Trevor has more than 10 years of expertise with solar LED lighting product development and manufacturing. He has led engineering and design efforts for a wide variety of solar LED lighting products including pathway lighting, architectural consumer lighting, transportation (roadway and transit) lighting, and aviation-related solar LED lighting applications.
In addition to his solar powered LED lighting experience, Trevor has founded and grown technology and manufacturing companies in markets including sustainable power, food and beverage, and wastewater treatment and management. Trevor has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design Engineering from the University of Victoria.
Product & Operations Manager
John has 15 years of manufacturing experience in the IC and Fibre Optic fields, supporting both product and equipment. After stepping away for nine years to pursue other career options, he is now back in the technology field. John plays a key role in the day-to-day operations as well as technical support.
Product & Operations Manager
Reid developed an interest working with photovoltaic solar solutions in the residential and commercial energy industry from an early age. This passion led him to discover his attraction to providing packaged solutions for customers using solar technology, specifically in lighting. When he is not working on solar solutions, there is a good chance that you will find him cycling or out sailing the local waters.
Reid Cannon has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria.
Supply Chain & Logistics Manager
Roger brings to Urban Solar 18 years of experience in supply chain management with industry-leading multinational companies. His skills and experience add competitive advantages to the business and enable Urban Solar to provide outstanding solutions and services to our valued customers. Roger has a master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Ottawa.
Upanup Marketing Director
As leader of Upanup‘s marketing and communications team for Urban Solar, Charlotte brings ten years of marketing and project management experience, gained through work in a broad range of industries and sectors. She and the team at Upanup provide Urban Solar with strategic direction and implementation for digital marketing campaigns, search engine marketing and optimization, website management, analytics, media relations, communications and brand management. Charlotte holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria.
VP of Administration
Stephanie has been with Urban Solar since its inception, and was initially responsible for all administrative and financial aspects. Now, she specializes in administration and HR. She has many years of experience working in both public and private sectors, including five years in education, 12 years in social services, several years in manufacturing, and in government.
Wanda has more than 25 years of finance and office management experience in the advertising, safety, energy, and social services sectors. Her extensive knowledge in developing strong corporate structures and protocols is instrumental in Urban Solar’s continued success.
Tracy joined our team with several years of diverse administrative and financial experience, both from local non-profit organizations and the public sector. She now puts those skills to use by supporting Urban Solar’s accounting operations and helping us prepare for the many international trade shows our team attends. She’s excited to be part of an organization committed to sustainability and when she isn’t working, Tracy can probably be found leisurely exploring the many parks and trails on this beautiful island, accompanied by her dog.
VP of Engineering and Operations
Garnet has more than 25 years of experience with solar power systems and high reliability telecommunications equipment including product research and development, manufacturing operations, quality and reliability standards and testing, sales and marketing, customer support, and system deployment and commissioning.
Garnet has extensive experience supporting customers and has a proven record of accountability in support of business development and sales teams.
Garnet is a founding member of Urban Solar.
President and Sales Director
Jeff has been working in the renewable energy field since 2000. Since 2004, he has focused his efforts on solar-powered LED lighting solutions. Jeff founded Urban Solar in 2008 and brings more than 20 years of manufacturing and sales experience to the team. Urban Solar’s growth and success stems from his passion for reliable, high-performing products, corporate vision, and focus on customer service.
During this time, he has managed thousands of deployments and has been involved in all aspects of business development for general and transit illumination projects. His extensive knowledge and experience with commercial solar lighting includes leading product development and growing all aspects of the business from sales to marketing.
