Solar street lighting market valued at $15B by 2024

It’s no secret governments and companies are trending toward reducing, or eliminating, their carbon footprint, and their dependence on fossil fuels.  This is due to a number of factors including increasingly more education on environmental impacts, more transparency, and a widespread desire to be eco-friendly.  It’s a growing trend that isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

One of the markets benefitting from this trend is solar LED lighting. Global Market Insights Inc. is predicting the solar LED street lighting market will jump from its 2015 market worth of US$2.9 billion, to a whopping US$15 billion by 2024.

When it comes to commercial solar LED lighting, there are ample opportunities for urban planners, municipalities, city or public works officers, lighting consultants and engineers to save on environmental impacts by implementing solar solutions.

According to a recent report by Globe Newswire, 20 to 35% of the world’s total energy bill is taken up by street lighting.  Governments are now pushing hard for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, meaning higher fees for those who use them, and tax breaks for those who don’t.

Urban Solar’s off-grid commercial solar LED lighting systems are not only safety tested and reliable, they are time savers.  There is no need for trenching or supplying expensive copper wiring during the installation process, and parts are built to last.  Operational and maintenance costs are low, and batteries are reliable.

It’s important to note, not all companies are the same.  Quality will be a crucial factor as more municipalities, cities, and countries look for bids to go solar.  Reliable parts, long lasting batteries, and UL listed systems are and will be key items to consider in order to maintain low costs and efficiency long term.
