Eben Lindsey

Personal quirk: Spent 2 years living in South America volunteering and consulting while exploring the continent.
With a keen eye for innovative technology and a passion for sustainable energy applications, Eben started his journey with Urban Solar in September 2017 as their Business Development Manager. Over time, he evolved into his current role as CEO, where he thrives on collaborative problem-solving with his team, clients and strategic partners like Tolar and Axentia.

When it comes to leadership, he embraces a philosophy centered around positive impact and personal growth. “Leadership is about having the ability to positively influence those around you,” he explains. Eben practices gratitude daily, which he considers vital for maintaining a positive and constructive work environment. For those leading in the energy sector, he suggests to “Find what you’re really passionate about and focus on that. Work with people around you that have other strengths other than yours.”
A typical day for Eben involves managing product development, addressing market gaps, enhancing Urban Solar’s offerings and stepping in as the CFO. Outside of his professional life, he channels his creativity and balance through paragliding. This passion not only fuels his zest for travel but also reflects his leadership style — helping others soar beyond their limits and have incredible experiences.

Liam Hamel
SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Alter ego: The international comms maestro
Hometown: Oakville, Ontario
Personal quirk: Nearly launched a snowboard graphics business pre-Covid
Liam Hamel joined Urban Solar in September 2021 after a chance encounter with Urban Solar’s CEO at a school event hosting mock interviews led to a real job opportunity. As the Business Development Manager, Liam’s days consist of outreach, responding to customer inquiries, researching transit upgrade projects in North America and exploring opportunities of how to improve transit spaces with off-grid, bus stop amenities.

Before joining Urban Solar, Liam managed a driving range and pursued a master’s degree in Global Business at the University of Victoria. His studies, which included time in Scotland and Thailand, gave him a deep understanding of cultural differences and enriched his communication skills with international partners.
“Learning about cultural differences and its impact on how people communicate and do business really helps me with our international partners, like Axentia in Sweden,” he explains. Outside of work you can find Liam either playing golf, watching baseball, reading classic fiction or attending a baseball card collectable event.

Eric Bracke

Alter ego: The transit innovator
Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta
Personal quirk: Perennially last place in fantasy football, but still plays every year
In March 2023, Eric joined Urban Solar and brought a wealth of experience from his time at BC Transit with him. Some of which included managing the installation of over 80 shelters across 30 communities. Originally introduced to Urban Solar through his management of BC Transit’s Bus Shelter Program, he saw the impact of improving bus stops first-hand.

In his current role as Business Development Manager for Western North America, Eric spends his days managing existing accounts, pursuing new business and providing comprehensive support to customers. "My goal is to listen to and support customers in improving their rider experience. I enjoy being involved in the initiation of projects that aim to make a positive impact on communities across North America," he says.
Eric’s mechanical engineering and project management skills give him a technical edge in visualizing and supporting custom projects, but his standout customer service and understanding of transit nuances truly set him apart. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, chess, coding in Python and spending quality time with his wife, Jenn. Despite his fantasy football struggles, he’s a passionate Gloomhaven board game enthusiast who’s always up for a new challenge.

Krupal Patel
HEAD OF OPERATIONS
Alter ego: The calm in the chaos
Hometown: Harare, Zimbabwe
Personal quirk: Has visited every continent except Antarctica, including 26 countries in a single year
Krupal joined Urban Solar in 2026 as Head of Operations, bringing deep expertise in manufacturing, procurement and supply chain strategy. He’s focused on strengthening supplier partnerships, building a resilient supply chain and laying the groundwork for future production.
What attracted him to Urban Solar was the opportunity to help scale a company solving real-world challenges. He was drawn to the team’s ambition and the chance to build something that delivers a lasting impact both for communities and the environment.

Krupal studied Industrial Systems Engineering and began his career at Boeing in Seattle, where he optimized aircraft production and joined a specialized team responsible for auditing suppliers around the world. Those experiences gave him a firsthand understanding of how strong operations and trusted partnerships drive long-term success.
After relocating to Victoria, he brought that same systems mindset to roles in the pensions sector and later the BC Ministry of Environment, where he led procurement efforts supporting the response to the 2021 Atmospheric River flooding. Along the way, he completed a master’s degree focused on sustainability and innovation, further reinforcing his belief that practical solutions can create meaningful change.
Krupal’s leadership style is grounded in curiosity and empathy. He believes that the best solutions come from understanding the bigger picture and taking the time to see challenges from different perspectives. He’s known for bringing a steady hand to complex situations and keeping teams focused when things get chaotic.
Outside of work, Krupal is first and foremost a proud dad. He loves spending time with his family, whether that’s movie nights with popcorn, cheering on his favorite basketball and football teams, or planning the next adventure.

Graham Ball
HEAD OF ENGINEERING
Alter ego: The thoughtful tinkerer
Hometown: Victoria, British Columbia
Personal quirk: Became a hobbyist beekeeper during the pandemic
Graham’s trajectory to Engineering Manager at Urban Solar is as unique as the projects he leads. Joining the company in August 2021, he was drawn to the tangible impact his work would create. With a background in environmental technology, a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Victoria and a minor in oceanography, his career has always revolved around off-grid solutions.

Prior to Urban Solar, he worked on equipment designed to monitor the ocean and remote camera systems to track forest fires. Nowadays, Graham’s role revolves around managing and supporting Urban Solar's engineering team while overseeing key processes. He also leads product development focusing on design, research and certification. “What I love about Urban Solar is the tangible difference we’re making. Brightening up a bus stop might seem small, but it’s a positive change in someone’s day,” he says.
As a self-taught tinkerer, he spends a lot of his free time on woodworking projects or using his personal CNC machine to create everything from furniture to custom signage. Whether he’s tinkering, surfing, kayaking or in his veggie garden, Graham’s creativity and connection to the environment shine through, making him a key player in bringing Urban Solar’s designs to everyday life.

Brianna Kerwin
OPERATIONS PROJECT MANAGER

Hometown: Duncan, British Columbia
Personal quirk: True Crime podcast aficionado
Brianna's time with Urban Solar began in January 2021 when she joined as a co-op student from the University of Victoria's Business program. Drawn in by the company's sustainable mission, she felt a connection to Urban Solar's unique focus on transit. “Having used public transit everyday since I moved to Victoria 7 years ago, I was intrigued by the company's focus on improving the rider experience,” she shares. In January 2022 she returned full-time, keen to work with like-minded individuals in a team-driven environment.

Brianna thrives on improving the customer experience and making sure things run smoothly from start to finish. Her days are filled with managing orders, projects and communicating with customers or contractors. From leading weekly project meetings to troubleshooting and training sessions, her proactive approach focuses on executing projects smoothly.
Her background in retail and hospitality, combined with a love for data analytics helps her multitask effectively, always keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront. Outside of work, Brianna is an avid hiker and runner, with passion for exploring the beautiful trails of Victoria and Cowichan Valley. She is also a devoted bookworm and fan of true crime podcasts, often starting her day with a compelling mystery.

Alec Ramsay
TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Alter ego: The tech troubleshooter
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Personal quirk: He toured with a rock-and-roll band playing live shows before COVID hit
Alec brings a unique mix of technical expertise and a love for music to his role. With a background in electronics and business, Alec’s venture into the tech world was shaped by his natural problem-solving mindset.

Alec moved from Calgary to Victoria to pursue a Business Administration diploma at the University of Victoria, which helped him bridge technology and communication. Before joining Urban Solar in January 2025, he gained experience as an electronics technologist and service manager working with remote solar power sites — skills he now applies in troubleshooting and supporting solar technology at Urban Solar.
“My mind works in a technical way, and I’ve always been fascinated by how things work," Alec shares. His path into electronics began with repairing amplifiers for his band, which eventually led to a career in the field. Outside of work, you can find Alec playing live music in downtown Victoria.

Anislene Tavares
PROPOSALS & MARKETING COORDINATOR
Alter ego: The multilingual storyteller
Hometown: Brasilia, Brazil
Personal quirk: Had a very brief but memorable career as a mural artist after the pandemic
Anis joined Urban Solar in 2026, bringing a career built on turning complex ideas into clear, compelling communication. As Proposals and Marketing Coordinator, she leads content development, proposal writing and brand strategy, drawing on over 15 years of experience in sustainability, communications and project coordination at one of Brazil's largest public institutions. Her background spans sustainable procurement, social investment in renewable energy and open innovation, making Urban Solar a natural fit for both her skills and her values.

Anis spent nearly two decades at Caixa Economica Federal, Brazil's largest public bank, where she led sustainability initiatives, coordinated the company's first open innovation program and developed its Sustainable Supply Chain Policy. Along the way, she coordinated social investment projects in photovoltaic energy generation for low-income communities, a thread that connects directly to her work at Urban Solar today. She holds a BA in English Translation from the University of Brasilia, a Graduate Certificate in Communication Management and a Master's degree in Environment and Management from Royal Roads University.
Originally from Brazil, Anis made the leap to Victoria with her husband and two teenagers in 2024. Outside of work, she is happiest driving around Vancouver Island with no destination in mind, discovering forests, beaches and trails. She loves meeting new people and is internationally renowned for bad dad jokes and an impressive ability to embarrass herself in public.

Victoria Sutherland

Hometown: Sooke, British Columbia
Personal quirk: She’s sewn the majority of her wardrobe by hand
A lifelong transit user who grew up riding buses in rural areas, Victoria is known for turning complexity into clarity and transforming experience into streamlined processes.
“Understanding why we do things the way we do and finding ways to improve them is what I’m passionate about.”

Her workday balances hands-on tasks like prototyping new products and creating detailed documentation, blending the practical with the technical.
Before joining Urban Solar in June 2025, she sharpened her skills in the medical device industry, where she built heart valve testing devices and helped implement industry-standard processes. She also supported the manufacturing of shock-mitigation systems for marine applications, where she played a key role in translating “tribal knowledge” into repeatable procedures.
Her foundation in mechanical engineering from Camosun College gave her real-world machine shop experience and taught her how to make complex ideas make sense.Outside of work, she’s a chronic hobbyist — embroidering, needle felting and even woodworking.

Personal quirk: A self-proclaimed food snob who secretly dreams of a second life as a chef
Ching joined Urban Solar looking to return to her roots in operations, and brings a wealth of experience doing exactly that. As Procurement & Logistics Manager, she will be overseeing Urban Solar’s supply chain and procurement activities. Her career has taken her from financial consulting and journalism in Melbourne, to operations leadership at a Vancouver skateboard and bike manufacturer, to managing ERP systems for an oceanographic company in Victoria, and now to helping Urban Solar scale up.

Ching graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in Accounting and Finance, before spending several years as a consultant and financial journalist. After moving to Vancouver in 2013, she joined a local skateboard and bike manufacturer where she built her operational expertise heading procurement, production, distribution, quality, and IT across Canadian and US facilities. A career pivot later brought her to Victoria, where she managed ERP and business systems for an oceanographic company, adding yet another industry to her eclectic and impressive resume.
What draws Ching to a role matters as much as the role itself. She thrives in small teams and gravitates toward companies on the cusp of scaling up, where she believes she can have the most impact. Urban Solar’s growth trajectory was a natural fit. Outside of work, Ching is most likely on a trail. She’s currently deep into mountain biking and volunteers with her local women’s mountain bike club to host group rides. When she’s not on two wheels, you’ll find her camping and exploring Vancouver Island with her wife and two dogs.

From the sandy beaches of Honolulu to the bustling streets of Jakarta and finally to Victoria, BC, Satria’s journey has been a dynamic one. Joining Urban Solar in January 2024, he was eager to create a solid foundation for his engineering career. His passion for sustainable energy combined with a desire to see his designs come to life, made Urban Solar the perfect fit. "I chose Urban Solar because I wanted to be part of a company where I could see my designs in action in the real world,” he says.

Satria's background in renewable energy paired with marine engineering co-ops and his education at the University of Victoria, where he majored in mechanical engineering and minored in business, have equipped him with a diverse skill set. At the office, you can find him creating detailed engineering drawings, compiling technical documentation for manufacturers or bringing designs to life using the 3D printer. Satria is an expert at ensuring the seamless integration of mechanical components and electronics into our systems.
Outside of work, Satria is a sports enthusiast and a recent aspiring pickleball pro. Aside from sports, you can find him playing Rummy or Crib. Living in 3 different countries has shaped Satria's outlook on life, blending together drive, relaxation and balance.

With a diverse teaching career that took her to England, Japan and Kuwait, Arlene brings a wealth of organizational skills like attention to detail and adaptability to her role. “The ability to learn and grow while working closely with a tight-knit team is something I truly value,” she shares.

In her role as Controller, Melissa thrives on variety. A recent commerce graduate from the University of Victoria, Elisabeth gained valuable work experience through co-ops, including one with an ocean sensory company, which sparked her interest in operational systems and supply chain management.
In her role at Urban Solar, Elisabeth manages purchase orders, inventory and order backlogs, while coordinating communications with key manufacturing partners.
Outside of work, Elisabeth channels her creativity through digital art and dance, from ballet and contemporary to her new love — tango. Another fun fact about Elisabeth is that she once competed in an online Survivor game, coming in 3rd place by faking it until she made it. Kurt joined Urban Solar in January 2026, drawn to the team culture and the company's commitment to sustainable energy. As Bookkeeping and Administration Coordinator, he keeps the financial and administrative engine running smoothly, from processing invoices and managing payroll to onboarding new team members and keeping the office well-stocked. His background spans bookkeeping, golf courses, recreation and fitness instruction, giving him a versatile, people-first approach that fits right in at Urban Solar.

Kurt's career path has been anything but linear, and he wouldn't have it any other way. He studied professional golf management and business administration, spent years working at golf courses, recreation and fitness centres, and eventually found his footing in bookkeeping. Each chapter added a new layer of transferable skills, and today he brings a versatile, people-first approach to everything he does.
At Urban Solar, Kurt is the kind of person who makes the workplace run better and feel better. Whether he's reconciling accounts, running payroll across multiple jurisdictions or planning the next team event, he brings the same steady energy to all of it. Joshua joined Urban Solar in February 2026, drawn by its commitment to sustainability, a cause that sits at the heart of everything he does. As Project Coordinator, he works closely with customers to understand their unique requirements, striving to deliver the most effective solutions possible. His people-first approach and passion for sustainable transit make him a natural fit for the team.

Joshua built his early career around a love of the outdoors, working his way through a bike shop from mechanic to sales manager to store manager. He was the kind of person who would drive into the mountains the night before work, camp out, and hit the trails at dawn before the shop opened. When the time came for a new direction, Joshua wanted sustainability at the core of his work. Urban Solar's focus on clean energy and public transit was exactly that.
Outside of work, Joshua is out making the most of British Columbia's outdoors, traveling, meeting new people and riding his bike in as many places as possible. Ask him about loam.
